    • This list can be purchased at Davens or online. We recommend Davens because clay shipping can get expensive! The list below is the basic list that will get you started. Feel free to bring whatever tools and supplies that you already have and love to use! All the clay and glazes used at the studio must be cone 5-6 or higher. No low fire or unknown clay can be used!

    • Clay cone 5-10 (mid to high fire)- You will need one -25lbs bag to start - we recommend Standard 240 (White), Standard 112 (Tan Speck) Standard 225 (brown) or Laguna B-mix with grog (white)Write your name and clay type on your clay bag.

    • Glaze - This will be needed after your first pieces come out of the first firing. We have a lot of test tiles at the studio if you need ideas and inspiration on what glazes you like. Feel free to choose glazes you love the look of! We recommend cone 5-6 Amaco Glazes, Amaco Potters Choice, Opulence, and Underglazes (We like Amaco Velvet Underglaze) with HF-9 Clear glaze. Label all of your glazes with your name.

    • Sponge 

    • Wire cutting Tool 

    • Scoring tool

    • Clay knife

    • A variety of your choice of basic wooden clay tools

    • Loop Carving tool fine point or larger loop - your choice - you can try out the ones at the studio first to see what you like

    • Red clay rib tool

    • Empty container with tight fitting lid for making your own slip (we like using old yogurt containers)

    • Tool Box or bag to keep all of your tools organized

    • Set of acrylic paint to get you started. If you already have acrylic paints no need to purchase that specific set.  Bring what you have. You must have a white, red, yellow and blue. We have some student grade paints at the studio that you can use as well.

    • Suggested canvas 2 canvas - At least 16” x20” You can go a little bigger if you like and you could get a square canvas if that is your preferred composition shape. You will probably need more than two canvases. These two will get you started then you can decide what size and shape you prefer.

    • Brushes We also have student grade brushes for you to use at the studio. If you already have a set of brushes no need to buy more.

    • Sketchbook Mixed media This heavyweight, mixed media paper is important to have for the class as we will be doing painting studies on paper.

    • Pencils HB and eraser

    • colorwheel

    • Vine charcoal

    • Paint pallet

    • Watercolor paper: 12 sheets of 140lb cold-press, size 9 x 12 inches - Arches highly recommended

    • Watercolor paints: Artist grade tube paints - available individually or in sets (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown and pink). Preferred brands: Windsor Newton, Daniel Smith, American Journey, Holbein

    • Watercolor palette (preferably with a lid)

    • Watercolor brushes: 2 round (one between size #2 and 6, and another between #10 and 12) + a half-inch or larger mop brush. Princeton velvet touch brushes recommended. Feel free to bring any other brushes you may have.

    • Hand towel

    • Spray bottle (small)
